Kimberly Olivares is Deputy Chief Financial Officer and Director of Financial Services for the City of Austin, Texas where she oversees the procurement, accounting, treasury, real estate, strategic facility delivery, redevelopment, and support services teams. Kimberly provides leadership for the day-to-day operations of the Financial Services Department, critical real estate transactions and negotiations, development of funding stacks for major development projects, the City’s general obligation and enterprise bond sales, and citywide procurement services. Her over twenty-one year career in local government includes various roles in Financial Services, the City Manager’s Office, and Public Works.
Kimberly received her B.A. from the University of Notre Dame, Master of Public Affairs from the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin, and Master of Business Administration from St. Edward’s University. She has also worked for the City of Tampa, Florida. Kimberly is very active with the Government Finance Officers Association and teaches graduate courses in public finance as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs. She also serves as a board member of Austin Convention Enterprises, Inc., Waller Creek Local Government Corporation, Austin Public Facilities Corporation, and Vanguard Music and Performing Arts.
