Carleton Jones has over 30 years of public service and became the Executive Director of the City of Boston Public Facilities Department (PFD) in June 2024. As the director, Jones manages the team of professional project managers, architects and support personnel

that presently have 77 vertical construction projects presently underway for City departments (such as: schools, community centers, police, fire and libraries) that amount to 43% of the City’s $4.7 billion Five-Year Capital Plan. Prior to serving in his present capacity, Jones most recently served as Deputy Director of PFD and prior to that as an Assistant Director of PFD from 2017. As Assistant Director, Jones directed several teams of architects, general contractors and construction managers through seventeen directly-reporting project managers over five years to manage $491.0 million in public construction projects. Jones has more than a decade of experience leading the Boston Public Schools Capital, Strategic Planning, and Facility Management teams. He also served as Chief Operating Officer for the Providence Public School Department from 2009 to 2012. Jones is a former member of the United States Air Force Reserve, is now the commander of the Massachusetts Wing of the Civil Air Patrol, and is an instrument-rated FAA certified private pilot.
