Brett Webster is a Principal in RMI’s Carbon-Free Buildings practice, where he leads a portfolio of research, analysis, and real estate industry engagement initiatives aimed at catalyzing a scalable market for zero-carbon building retrofits. He also leads RMI’s work on grid-interactive buildings and communities, accelerating adoption of distributed energy resources and demand flexibility to support an affordable and rapid energy transition.

Prior to joining RMI, Brett worked at Energy Solutions, an employee-owned consulting firm focused on delivering large-scale environmental impact through market-based strategies. His work there centered on energy and emissions modeling, microgrids, building energy design and simulation, and bus fleet electrification.

Earlier in his career, Brett spent a decade combining hands-on experience as a contractor in residential construction with leadership development as senior faculty for the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS). In that role, he delivered custom leadership programs for organizations including the US Navy, NASA, and Google.

Brett holds a MPP in Energy Systems and Policy from the University of California, Berkeley.
